Ep. 48: Live in Front of a Studio Podcast

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 48th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Live in Front of a Studio Podcast," I pull up the third season premiere of "Psych," guest starring Cybil Shepherd for my Friday Night Feature, and run through a selection of Gus's nicknames.
In Cross Connections, I trace connections from Todd Stashwick taking on a side role in "Psych" and his appearances throughout my media collection, and Elysia Rotaru in a smaller number of shows in my archives, but one of them is "Fringe," so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing those when they turn up.

In my VHS-to-DVD Classic Collection transfers, I found Tori Amos giving a live performance of "Bouncing Off Clouds" on an episode of the Graham Norton Show, which also featured her in a 1980s ad for Just Right cereal. I also found a minute or so of what turned out to be Pamela Anderson's "V.I.P." interrupting a fourth-season episode of "The Shield," in which I saw what looked a lot like Glenn Close standing in front of my media collection circa 2008. ;)

Also, in contrast to last time, I found some hilarious first-season episodes of "Monty Python's Flying Circus." Finally, the seventh season premiere of "Monk" was dedicated to the memory of longtime supporting character Stanley Kamel as Dr. Kroger.
In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection recordings, I caught the presentation of ABC's "Live in Front of a Studio Audience" production hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear, featuring episode remakes of "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons," followed by a commentary episode of "Nightline." Also, comments on "A Discovery of Witches," "Fosse Verdon," "Happy," and the third season finale of "Brockmire." And in my Nerd Shows, I chat about a History Channel presentation of "The Dead Sea Scrolls" with comments on episodes of "How the Universe Works" and "Breakthrough."
And oh hey, my new mic arrived in the mail! Too late for this episode, but tune in next time and we'll find out what I sound like. Cheers!

Ep. 47: Podcasting In Plain Sight

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 47th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Podcasting in Plain Sight," I finally chat about "In Plain Sight" for my Friday Night Feature, a first-season episode featuring a somewhat cheesy '80s-style murder mystery plot centered at an art gallery, in which I draw connections between this show and "Burn Notice," another USA Networks production.

In Cross Connections, I trace connections from "In Plain Sight" and from a rather eye-popping string of appearances by actor Patrick Fischler throughout my media collection. In the VHS-to-DVD transfers I talk about for my Classic Collection, touched off by a slug of episodes of "The Simpsons," I trace synchronous Bob Fosse references, off-putting late-series installments of "Monty Python's Flying Circus," and I trace connections through Spike TV's short run basic cable improv sitcom "The Factory."

In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I zip through comments on "Supernatural," "A Discovery of Witches," "Superstore," "Brockmire," "Fosse Verdon," "Happy," and in movies, I added the FX presentations of M. Night Shyamalan's "Split" and Marvel's "X-Men Apocalypse," Dorothy L Sayers' "Haunted Honeymoon" (1940) and Agatha Christie's "Murder, She Said" (1961), and Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" (1974). Also, all thoughts and strength to "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek as he's fighting pancreatic cancer, and to friends and family of Tim Conway in the wake of his passing.

In my Video Outreach segment, I sit down with friend and fellow podcaster Marc Bailey, also known as Grailwolf, and we share our thoughts and reactions Marvel's epic adventure "Avengers: Endgame" and comments on Joss Whedon. In Upcoming Shows, I highlight the third-season premiere of TNT's "Claws" on June 9, and FXX's 10th-season premiere "Archer 1999" on May 29, and Brian Greene's "Light Falls: Space, Time and an Obsession of Einstein" set for PBS also on May 29. Plus, the premiere of my Video Outtakes segment. Happy viewing!

Ep. 46: Podcast by the NUMB3RS

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 46th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging now more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Podcast by the NUMB3RS," I put a shoulder into a third season episode of "NUMB3RS" and talk about it for my Friday Night Feature.

In Cross Connections, I trace connections from "NUMB3RS," "Fear Itself," "Boston Legal," "Happy!" "Grizzly Bear Stakeout" and "Polar Bear Family and Me."

M&M's Addams Family
In Crowdsourcing, I need some help with a "Shakespeare for Complete Idiots" sketch from MADtv featuring Josh Meyers. I'm looking for help identifying his co-star in that sketch in Crowdsourcing Exhibit F, with screencaps here.

In the VHS-to-DVD transfers I talk about for my Classic Collection, I found episodes of "Commander in Chief," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," an altogether ooky frame from an M&Ms commercial with the M&Ms dressed as The Addams Family, and music videos by The All American Rejects, The Killers, Lady Sovereign, Paris Hilton and Fergie.

In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I bring in episodes of "BoJack Horseman," "Will & Grace," "Miracle Workers," "Grey's Anatomy," "Fosse Verdon," "Happy!" "Supernatural," "Halt and Catch Fire" and "The Polar Bear Family and Me." The fourth season finale of "The Magicians" was absolutely fantastic, including "Houses" by Great Northern, that song here. I caught the series premiere of "A Discovery of Witches" and I caught a couple of movies: Taraji P. Henson in "Hidden Figures" and Peter Sellers in "Being There."

Shoutouts to David Dean Bottrell's "Working Actor" and Voices of Deconversion's second anniversary -- congratulations! I got a correction, and in Upcoming Shows I'm looking forward to seeing "Avengers: Endgame," a local production of "Noises Off!" and series resumes of "Luther" and "Pose." Happy viewing!

Crowdsourcing: Exhibit F

This sketch showed up on disc 659 - "Romeo and Mercutio - Shakespeare for Complete Idiots." It's from an episode of MadTV rebroadcast on Comedy Central, and features Josh Meyer. I couldn't recognize the other actor, tho, so any help would be appreciated -- thanks!
