Crowdsourcing: Exhibit E

In a two-minute scrap of what looks like British sketch comedy I found on disc 599 in my classic collection, three women present young medieval characters. The only names I caught were Guinevere and Morgana, and they reference a friend of theirs, Juliet, whom Guinevere said is just so stuck up and full of herself she wishes she'd just throw herself off that balcony already.

Guinevere admires Morgana's tall pointy hat with the stocking trailing from it, and she says "Oh, do you like it? It's my damsel in distress look. Check this out: 'Help! Help!' Isn't it great?" She got it at "Ye Olde Spotsy Girle."

Guinevere asks "What do you think about Madonna?" and pulls out an icon featuring Mary and Jesus. The other, heavier-set young woman is into music. She's got a lute and is planning to go to the Chaucer concert, drawbridge up at 9 p.m. There's a poster on the wall advertising "Prince."

Immediately before this sketch was a second or so of one set in a garret bedroom where one of the blonde actors in floofy pink pajamas sits on one bed with a set of bongos while the other two face her, sitting on the other bed. I grabbed two pics from that, below.

Adding a bit more by way of context, this sketch was recorded after the "Grey's Anatomy" fourth season finale in May of 2008 on ABC and the SciFi rebroadcast of Steven Moffat's "Doctor Who" episode "The Girl in the Fireplace," which of necessity aired sometime after October of 2006.

Everything I recorded was from DVR at that point and reruns abound so the sketch could've been produced any time since the advent of color television, but the Madonna and Prince references would seem to narrow it to the mid-1980s at the earliest.

If any of this sounds familiar or if you recognize any of these scenes or actors, I'd appreciate the help. Please contact me at tjaman1970@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Ep. 40: Familiar Arguments

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 40th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Familiar Arguments," Ralph and I took in a comedy show in New Town with Gabriel Iglesias, better known as Fluffy. We spent Christmas Eve driving around town looking at Christmas lights, a tradition I'm coming to enjoy.

For my Friday Night Feature, I talked about a fourth season episode of "Boston Legal" from April 2008 which explored the relative merits of then primary candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and the validity of the primary process for both parties. Also, they took on cloned beef and the FDA.

In my Classic Collection, I encounter "Mayored to the Mob" a 10th season episode of "The Simpsons" featuring Mark Hamill and which introduced the "Yes Guy." Also, some decent episodes of "Samantha Who?" "Reaper" and "MI-5," and the first season finale of Showtimes's "Dexter" as rebroadcast on CBS.

In my Current Collection, I grabbed three more season 1 episodes of "The Magicians" on SyFy -- but not before missing the first SEVEN of them [grumble, grouse]. Netflix series "BoJack Horseman" as rebroadcast on Comedy Central is darkly compelling, "A Million Little Things" is getting a little hamfisted with the drama, but "Doctor Who" had a fantastic season finale and "The Good Place," well ... that show continues to amaze.

In What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in "Mary Poppins Returns" and "Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse." Both are excellent, go see them and I'll just mention -- stay through the credits on Spidey; it's worth it. ;) And in that this is my 40th episode, I've included stats in Crunching Some Numbers.

Finally, this past weekend I put together the second-ever installment of "VideoFuzzy: The Video! Ep. 2: Pics, News and Weather." It includes the most complete look I've found my VHS collection as of 2007, a bit of background and what's been going on with me. Click here to check it out, and have a fantastic 2019!

Ep. 39: A Million Little References

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 39th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "A Million Little References," I talked about a musical stage production of "A Christmas Story" we got to that they're running for another week at the FMCT -- go see that if you can, they do a fantastic job.

For my Friday Night Feature, I talked about a fourth season episode of "Doctor Who" called "The Fires of Pompeii" that I really enjoyed. It feels like most of the time when I talk about "Doctor Who" I'm complaining about this or that, so I wanted to just revel in the positives, not least of which this preunion of David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Peter Capaldi as 2-1/2 Doctors, along with a pre-Pond appearance by Karen Gillan as a soothsayer -- outstanding!

In my Classic Collection, along with a bunch of the usual, I discovered episodes of "Terminal City," a strong if unfortunately interrupted performance by George Michael in the first season finale of "Eli Stone," the BBC America counterterrorism production of "MI-5," several first season episodes of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" on Syfy, as well as Syfy's presentation of the 1995 "Ghost in the Shell" Puppet Master anime.

In my Current Collection, I managed to completely empty out my DVR and catalog most of my current collection, up to disc X202. I watched my season 5 pileup of AMC's 10th year anniversary reairing of "Breaking Bad," which figured heavily in the backlog. Unfortunately, this interfered a lot with progress on my Classic Collection, contributing to the lateness of this installment.

Along with "Breaking Bad," I archived episodes on either side of midterm elections from Samantha Bee's "Full Frontal" and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" I'll have to go back and catalog properly. I also brought in episodes from season 1 of Netflix original "BoJack Horseman" as rebroadcast on Comedy Central, as well as episodes of "The Good Place," "Superstore" and that ABC production of "A Million Little Things" my friend Jesse Zimmerman talked to me about in Episode 38 and which I was only able to watch three or four episodes of that, but maybe ABC will put the whole thing back on demand at some point. Speaking of missing episodes, I couldn't find the "Doctor Who" season 11 episode "Kerblam!" anywhere, but I think they're planning a marathon from the current season in the run-up to the Christmas episode so ... keeping an eye out. And in other Nerd Shows, comments on "Hacking the Universe" and "How the Universe Works."

Finally, in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I got over to watch "Ralph Breaks the Internet," which was awesome. Be sure to stay to the end for the preview of "Frozen 2"!

Ep. 38: Shows I'm Not Watching

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 38th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Shows I'm Not Watching," I chat with Jesse Zimmerman of The Average Movie Nerd blog about, well, shows I'm not watching, including "FBI," "SEAL Team," "S.W.A.T.," "Archer," "This Is Us," "A Million Little Things," "Castle Rock," "Charmed" and the "Magnum P.I." reboot. We also chat a little bit about "Supernatural," which I am watching, but I left it in anyway.

I've been watching a lot of TV lately and have gotten the DVR boiled down into the 25 percent range, with good prospects to get it completely cleared out over Thanksgiving weekend -- just in time to actually start watching "A Million Little Things" because Jesse made it sound amazing. While I have yet to catalog all of this viewing, I have recorded my 200th DVD in my current collection.

All of this has put a crimp in my overall cataloging efforts recently. However, in What I've Been Watching, this past week I took in the eighth season finale of "American Horror Story: Apocalypse," so I shared a few spoiler-y comments on that.

Finally, I gave shoutouts to a couple podcasts I've been enjoying lately: Chris Cooling's "Forgotten TV," and Matt Triest and Jon Waugh's "Damn That Television." I'll include a couple of links in my show notes. Enjoy!
